Care Instructions for Direct-to-Garment (DTG) Printed Apparel

Expect apparel that are printed using DTG technology to be of retail quality and as good as or better than the screen-printed t-shirts you find at big box retailers or your favorite stores in a local mall.

Please keep in mind that the apparel’s original manufacturer's care instructions don't take into consideration the DTG printing process. DTG is a durable printing method and an excellent method for creating long-lasting, durable prints on clothing and accessories.

Our printer uses the latest direct-to-garment (DTG) printing technology and high-quality Eco-Friendly water-based inks for a softer feel and long-lasting detailed prints that won't fade for a long time if taken care of properly.

So we suggest following the care instructions on this page to learn how to take care of your printed garments properly.

 

Machine Washing:

DTG-printed apparel can be machine washed in cold water, inside-out.

Washing apparel inside-out extends the life span of your shirt as the print is not as exposed to the harsh detergents. Gentle detergents, powder or liquid, is the best washing detergent for retaining the print quality on both DTG and screen printed apparel.

Hand Washing:
 
DTG-printed apparel can be hand washed with cold water, inside-out, with mild detergent; If washing by hand, wash gently without scrubbing, squeezing, pulling, or brushing the shirt.

Drying:

DTG-printed apparel can be tumble-dried on a low cycle but hang-drying works best. After your shirt has been washed, leave it turned inside-out and hang it to air dry naturally, indoors or outdoors.
 
Ironing:

When it comes to ironing; Don’t iron directly on the print!  Use cool iron on the lowest setting while your shirt is still inside-out. Using a piece of cloth between the iron and your shirt will also minimize the risk of damage to the print

Conclusion:

Your apparel will last a lot longer if you do not wash your shirt in hot water and then tumble dry it on “high heat”.
